String Theory - Sculpture and Photographs

I discovered these recently and was amazed to see that even back then I was preoccupied with transient forms and the perception of motion. This “sculpture” thing is made of a series of wool strings that I tied up in various hanging formations. I remember just playing about with how they would stick to each other and hang in gravity-defying formations. In the end though it was the photographs that became the work.

By moving the camera body rapidly, or the changing the focal length (or both) while taking the photograph these almost-forms would emerge. It somehow also amplified the soft ambient quality of the material.
